Have you ever imagined what the world looks like through the eyes of a survivor?

ree

She has experienced trauma and loss. She has seen the doors begin to swing open as she escaped from trafficking. She has big dreams, but big obstacles to overcome to achieve them.

At Uncaged, we walk with survivors and we equip them to stay free. Nearly 90% of survivors who have worked with our team are still free after five years or more. Survivors like Dorina are walking into their future. You can be the key that unlocks transformation!

Dorina is free from sexual exploitation and walking into her future with her son. She completed our program and worked tirelessly for her family's restoration. Here's what she had to say:

"I have learned that life can be difficult and unknown, but God is always good. I’ve learned that people can influence your life and if you open your heart, you can really be transformed.

I am going to work in the hairdresser’s salon, doing what I always have dreamed to do, making people look beautiful. My past is gone, and I want to live a full life for myself and for others.

I’ll be living together with my son who is 13, and together we will build a strong family, the same kind of family I’ve learned I lived in for the last two years.

I cannot thank you enough for your investment in my life and for making this transformation possible for me and my son."

Can love be expressed through a bowl of soup? Can the comfort of a beautiful home-cooked meal communicate comfort and care to a trauma survivor?

Laura, a trafficking survivor, was "repositioned" after 2 years with a host family. When we asked her about love and how she felt about starting her new life, this is what she said:

"Love to me means the first bowl of soup I received in the new home I went into two years ago. I remember the candle on the table, the warm bread on a plate, and an orange bowl of soup that I was served with love after years of bondage and abuse. I’ve learned that people can influence your life and if you open your heart, you can really be transformed.

I have learned to bake, I have learned to sew, I have learned to be a hairdresser; I have learned to pray and to dream again. I am going to work in the hairdresser’s salon, doing what I always have dreamed to do, making people look beautiful. My past is gone, and I want to live a full life for myself and for others.

I am moving forward with the baggage of love that I gathered during the two years spent with great people." Laura has been living with her son independently for just under a year. She is thriving thanks to the LOVE of her host family and the support of people like you.

When survivors arrive at The Sanctuary, we want to pay special attention to every aspect of their care and comfort: A warm meal for a woman who was given scraps. A blanket to wrap around the body that was freezing. A pair of pajamas to replace the tattered clothes she was rescued in.

Help us communicate love to each and every precious soul that we encounter. A monthly gift will speak volumes to her. Become a Key Holder today and unlock transformation!

Our first trauma-informed retreat hosted survivors from ages 14 to 34. I had tears in my eyes all week. I watched them drive up and heard their gasps as they got out of the car and experienced the fresh air, the welcoming staff, and the dogs. They were giddy when they received their welcome bags filled with toiletries, a journal, an adult coloring book, robes, slippers, and soft blankets. I saw them smelling the roses. I watched as they enjoyed the porch swings, listened to the birds singing, splashed around in the pool, enjoyed delicious food, played games, and danced.

These girls and ladies went from timid and scared to doing trust falls with their team. We saw the transformation happening right in front of our eyes!

And it wouldn’t happen without people like you gathering around us, supporting us financially, encouraging us, and praying for us! Because of you, freedom and transformation is possible for these precious, resilient souls!

Here is a personal "thank you" message from a survivor. I asked her what she liked best about The Sanctuary and this is what she had to say:

On behalf of the Survivors, thank you.
